The Beguiled review

Posted : 2 weeks ago on 9 October 2017 03:32 (A review of The Beguiled)

Not much to add to my recall of Siegel's if not a provocative aura of reivindication of women against gentleman Farrell. Besides it's war, isn't it? I like the screenplay becuase it has undertones and subtleties, and at the same time, Farrell verbalizes clearly what he thinks we must think.

The Naked and the Dead review

Posted : 2 weeks, 1 day ago on 8 October 2017 11:31 (A review of The Naked and the Dead)

Harsh, sometimes ugly (the secuence with Cliff and the girls), but this is war and reactionaries above politics, as Raoul could depict them (Massey is excellent, seems a british general...well in a way he is). Why we forgot to praise Aldo bull ray?

The Old Gun review

Posted : 2 weeks, 1 day ago on 7 October 2017 09:22 (A review of The Old Gun)

Enrico plays and places wisely the extrem violence of the story. You see Romy's burning it through the imagination of Noiret; but he is in a special state.

Two-Lane Blacktop review

Posted : 2 weeks, 1 day ago on 7 October 2017 09:19 (A review of Two-Lane Blacktop)

So simple, so direct, so on its time. A lot and nothing happens in this trip, but first of all thereĀ“s no violence, not even competition, is the obsession with cars

Remember review

Posted : 2 weeks, 1 day ago on 7 October 2017 09:17 (A review of Remember)

Predictable, artificiaux idea. Plummer, Landau, Ganz dignifies it. Best part: Plummer more uncomfortable than insulted in the house of the antisemitic policeman.

Goodbye Charlie review

Posted : 2 weeks, 1 day ago on 7 October 2017 09:11 (A review of Goodbye Charlie)

Too moderate, I expected more sex play with the idea of a man tourned women after apparent death. At least, there are crooked characters as Matthau and Charlie/Debbie her/himself

Stars in My Crown review

Posted : 2 weeks, 1 day ago on 7 October 2017 09:00 (A review of Stars in My Crown)

A pastoral symphony, the duality of doctor and parson is very well done, both are dignified. The ku klux klan with feelings, deciding no to hung Juano Hernandez, is moving. Tourneur is excellent.

The Horn Blows at Midnight review

Posted : 2 weeks, 1 day ago on 7 October 2017 08:55 (A review of The Horn Blows at Midnight)

The lesser Walsh, in spite of always elegant and zanny Benny, but there are a bit unsufferable the routines between Benny and Dolores Moran.
