Poil de carotte review

Posted : 10 months ago on 20 December 2016 07:25 (A review of Poil de carotte)

Un enfant que arrive tard. The old housekepper gives to the new one, this great definition that encloses the entire film. Charlotte BarbierKrauss as Madame Lepic is the french Margaret Hamilton.

Francesca and Nunziata review

Posted : 10 months, 1 week ago on 19 December 2016 01:19 (A review of Francesca and Nunziata)

Great story. Melodrama witn industrial boom (pastificio topic) and unavoidable decadence. The legacy beyond blood between Francesca and Nunziata is well finished

The Black Knight review

Posted : 10 months, 1 week ago on 19 December 2016 01:11 (A review of The Black Knight)

A poor Garnett. Ladd is a imposible, cold, heroe. The romance of poor servant and noble Medina is wasted. The Stonehenge battle is a false climax but at least is campy.

Court review

Posted : 10 months, 1 week ago on 19 December 2016 01:06 (A review of Court)

I like the sort of distance, non commitment point of view. The lawyer is not a heroe, is a looser masochist unable to discuss and to advice his stubborn client. All this is expressed in fixed shots of the court.

Microbe & Gasoline review

Posted : 10 months, 1 week ago on 14 December 2016 08:27 (A review of Microbe & Gasoline)

I'm not sure if Gondry wanted a youth film with one foot in french naturalism oe if it is result of some weakness or indefinition. Anyway the wheel ouse is a nice moving image and Theo/Gasoil a nice character.

Shoot Loud, Louder review

Posted : 10 months, 2 weeks ago on 12 December 2016 02:21 (A review of Shoot Loud, Louder)

I saw this for love of Rachel, familiarity with Marcello and respect of Eduardo de Filippo and his napolitan way. Poor story (more dreamy than absurd as it pretends to be)

The Unforgiven review

Posted : 10 months, 2 weeks ago on 12 December 2016 02:17 (A review of The Unforgiven)

Underrated Huston in spite of its lousy treacheroos everybody saved but the indians at the end. Great story, really unforgiven heroe Lancaster risking his family for love of sis Audrey.

The Boy and the Beast review

Posted : 10 months, 2 weeks ago on 12 December 2016 02:14 (A review of The Boy and the Beast)

Nice animation, better in the human modern world ant the interface; not so much in the beast world. Hosoda imposes his rythm, his codes of honor.

Slingshot review

Posted : 10 months, 2 weeks ago on 12 December 2016 02:12 (A review of Slingshot)

Brillante is not brilliant; just dinamic, violent, effective. The false doccumentary style is a little tiring.

The Last Wagon review

Posted : 10 months, 2 weeks ago on 12 December 2016 02:09 (A review of The Last Wagon)

Deceiving. Widmark is ok seeming to be a very bad guy in the beginning, bot in th eminute you see he is the fantastic heroe; the film becomes corny.
