Constructing Presley rebel without a cause persona and a bonus: a coreographic tableau vivant that seems inserted in the film, woth teh outstanding song title anf Elvis doing all he cando to dance genuinely clumsy.

Flaming Star review

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 3 September 2017 10:43 (A review of Flaming Star)

Siegel is just ok, westerns are not for him. Washed up as an elegy of indian mystique against normal whites; but now and then has some good violent encounters. Presley ok in a non singing role.

Above Suspicion review

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 3 September 2017 10:41 (A review of Above Suspicion)

Very amusind beginning of war thriller. Fred and Joan are a kind of Powell Myrna Loy Thin man couple in nazi Germany. Conrad Veidt is charming.

Vertigo review

What else to say? To see and to confirm all about Hitch virtues and tics. Yes, Kim in molded into a nice Hitch woman. Two weeks ago I drove to SF and was difficult to catch the Vertigo sense I've catch before.

Come Dance with Me review

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 3 September 2017 10:35 (A review of Come Dance with Me)

BB justified too many simple little films, this Boisrond doesn't decide to be a romantic comedy with dancing lessons background or an amusing thriller.

4 for Texas review

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 3 September 2017 10:17 (A review of 4 for Texas)

3 stars just because Aldrich amuses in some rare moments and Ursula is a astonishing as Anita is aleady a relaxed beauty. Aldrich tries to find an amusing tone and misses the point most of the time.

The Shining review

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 3 September 2017 09:57 (A review of The Shining)

Reconciliated with Kubrick. Terror movies has evolved in such way that Shining looks ok for me. Isolation and fatalism, psycho and evil; the two forces combine well, here. Nicholson presneted at least half of his tics.

Norman review

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 3 September 2017 09:55 (A review of Norman)

The character is better than the film, it looses too much inexplaining a lot of roundaabouts, instead of stretching the story and intensifying its best moments.

Mayerling review

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 3 September 2017 09:53 (A review of Mayerling)

More than I expected. There's elegance, sense of decadence being constraint, romanticism build up with some subtlety in expense of the political background, perverse undertones (incestuous guilt between Ava and Sharif), and some fantasy in the ballet as seen by Deneuve and Sharif.

The Zookeeper's Wife review

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 3 September 2017 09:48 (A review of The Zookeeper's Wife)

Corny to say the least. Chastain acts as shw wants to, adding a whimsical sexy/froid look that makes me laugh sometimes. A washed up great war drama with too shy animals.
