(OK) Rare, very much interesting renoirbecause of its perverse subject, noir for a blind painter and for a sick young veteran, Ryan, in love with a not so bad Bennett...

Posted : 3 years, 3 months ago on 7 February 2021 02:24 (A review of Woman in the Moon)

(OK) Everything is neat, modern, visonary, intense and pure action here. There's even a love story, a greed sotry and those spy thirllers loved by Lang...The first countdown I recall...

Women of the Night review

Posted : 3 years, 3 months ago on 31 January 2021 07:09 (A review of Women of the Night)

(OK) They have all the shme and hate against each other; men are so secondary here. The catarsis at the end is a rare piece of caotic action in Mizoguchi.

Cavalo Dinheiro review

Posted : 3 years, 3 months ago on 31 January 2021 04:31 (A review of Cavalo Dinheiro)

Woman in a Dressing Gown review

Posted : 3 years, 3 months ago on 31 January 2021 04:24 (A review of Woman in a Dressing Gown)

(OK) Lourcelles says this is an expression on the long vein of 'realism of mediocrity' in british cinema, yeah. If that´s so Ivonne Mitchell is a diva of it, and Quayle a good companion. The radio music is a noisy good touch...

The Baker's Wife review

Posted : 3 years, 3 months ago on 31 January 2021 04:21 (A review of The Baker's Wife)

(OK) Vive Pagnol, vive Raimu, vive le peuple. The collectiv scenes around the impasse of Raimu, his wife and 'le berger' (an 'imbecile' for the repentant wife) , are unique in films, maybe they anticipate, in a way, "The quiet man". Dialofues are great ant the final touch with the return of the cat Pomponette is the hand of god...

La femme de nulle part review

Posted : 3 years, 3 months ago on 31 January 2021 04:17 (A review of La femme de nulle part)

(OK) Simple, neat, but with an interesting twist, 'l'inconnue' Eve gracis changes opinion and advises the young mother to abandon child and husband, good touch...

The Woman in the Window review

Posted : 3 years, 3 months ago on 31 January 2021 04:15 (A review of The Woman in the Window)

(OK) Maybe the great intuition of Lang here is playing all the argument to a dream/nightmare; deceiving some expectations...well, Bennett relfected in the window is a dream....
