Posted : 4 years ago on 15 April 2020 02:37 (A review of Totò e le donne (1952))

(OK) Monicelli at last and at large, even with Steno; Toto and the scritp have a philosophy on women, all kinf of, reoclected by Toto in his accounts to Peppino, who has one sketch. The dance with the sad whore in the bar is an antecedent of the Pulp Fiction dance.

Fame and the Devil review

Posted : 4 years ago on 15 April 2020 02:33 (A review of Fame and the Devil)

(OK) The fors by Monicelli, is a very idiot plot, against journalism and early globalization, ending a a UN assembly; as pretentious as simple. The dream and episodic plot is poor...

The Cabin in the Cotton review

Posted : 4 years ago on 15 April 2020 02:22 (A review of The Cabin in the Cotton)

(OK) WB feared its own movie and its social implication. That makes this a unique film of social struggle dilemma by a sensitive Barthermess torn between his poor folks and the Bette household, comprehensive at the end. Blakcks are the background's bacckground...

I Dood It review

Posted : 4 years ago on 15 April 2020 02:19 (A review of I Dood It)

Minnelli complete: music, dance and comedy, Skelton has his own long routines and some funny gestual remarks, some absurds too (he havin a goldmine), and cast is ok (Thurston Hall, Sam Levene), black music is well staged by the "Cabin in the sky" director, (a pitty Louis Armstrong is not the trumpet theat tears down Jericho walls)...

Cabin in the Sky review

Posted : 4 years ago on 12 April 2020 12:15 (A review of Cabin in the Sky)

Minnelli is complete here, black or white, and with 'heavenly' plot; Waters is as greta as Horne in her few scenes. There's sense of space (Waters running to Eddie being shot; thu tornado¡¡), and music

Plot, direction, even acting by John Payne, are tight and right. The mask idea the reunits Preston Foster, Neville Brand, Lee Van Cleef and jack Elam in a mexican hotel, waiting to the loot, great...

Fleming, Tracy and Dunne, and Ward Bond and james Gleason (one of his best parts), and even Lionel Barrymore as god, makes anything believable. Even Dunne seduced by young Van Johnson...

Command Decision review

Posted : 4 years ago on 11 April 2020 11:57 (A review of Command Decision)

With such a cast handled good by Wood, does'nt matter how stagey could be. Pidgeon is great explaining why he has to allow Gable to sacrifice pilots, Donlevy is also great trying to make a decision, even Hodiak is ok

Fearless Fagan review

Posted : 4 years ago on 11 April 2020 11:51 (A review of Fearless Fagan)

Charming Caleton Carpenter makes believable his friendship with the lion. Nice contrast with cinic Janet Leigh, in a way she is the male here.
