Notorious review

Posted : 4 years, 9 months ago on 10 August 2020 03:44 (A review of Notorious)

(OK) Love and adventure and all what Hitch likes in Rio and Miami and the alibi of 2nd war. Indird is poisoned before, when she drinks and Cary doesn'y like it; and at the end is as much pride and shame than fear in the Sebastian's. In the couple, is pure rescue for love...

(OK) Perfect because each image is strong, dramatic and tender, many shots reumes all times and feelings in one touch, Sjostrom is divine....

From the Life of the Marionettes (1980) review

Posted : 4 years, 9 months ago on 9 August 2020 02:40 (A review of From the Life of the Marionettes (1980))

(OK) Bergman moved hs world to drier, colder, more sordid Germany. Peter is not only a depressed 'answerless' Bergman type, but a killer, who esrcutures the film in a kind of multilevel polia research

Summer Interlude review

Posted : 4 years, 9 months ago on 9 August 2020 02:36 (A review of Summer Interlude)

(OK) A Bergman of anticipation, this is a sad fatalist summer with warm touches (2 years after "A summer with Monika" was another kind of season) and strong mature monologues by the heroine taht matures a los from the startpoint.

(OK) Advances on blocks, big secuences, of harmony, tears and blows, of a couple whose relation survives marriage. Few secondary characters just reflects or projects Ullman/Josephson drama

A Walk in the Sun review

Posted : 4 years, 9 months ago on 9 August 2020 02:28 (A review of A Walk in the Sun)

(OK) One of the best 2nd war films, just in the end of it, kind of ballad with choral protagonism, a lot of insights well delivered by the boys, specially John Ireland and Srerling Holloway, tender humour

Le chemin du paradis review

Posted : 4 years, 9 months ago on 9 August 2020 02:24 (A review of Le chemin du paradis)

(OK) Version francaise of the german operetta, same director and actress, just changes Willy Fritsh for equal good Henri Garat, and there you have nice songs, economical settings, some heavy choreography (with reealist suprises as the men taking the house in debt), mild romance....

Land Without Bread (1933) review

Posted : 4 years, 9 months ago on 9 August 2020 02:20 (A review of Land Without Bread (1933))

The Searching Wind review

Posted : 4 years, 9 months ago on 9 August 2020 02:18 (A review of The Searching Wind)

(OK) Minor Dieterle; there´s a long love story apalled by nos so clear circumstances, but Young (lacks some star presence) has dignified Richards to put in the other hand when sacireifices his love for Sidney. More diplometics of war than love and passion...
