The Company You Keep review

Posted : 11 years, 1 month ago on 21 March 2014 01:25 (A review of The Company You Keep)

I like the senior's part, not the young journalist research (even Shia LaBeouf is ok). The image of eternal backpackers hippie Julie Christie and Bob Redford running through the wilderness is nostalgic. Susan Sarandon puts the dramatic note.

The Hunt (2012) review

Posted : 11 years, 2 months ago on 17 March 2014 02:11 (A review of The Hunt (2012))

Good plot and plot nowadays, the misjudgment of an innocent man because of a child's lie. Vinterberg manipulates us, because doesnt let Mikelsen takes with elocuence his own defense.

Philomena review

Posted : 11 years, 2 months ago on 17 March 2014 02:09 (A review of Philomena)

A virtuous circle for Philmena and his forced journalist friend. They found Phil's son in the graveyard of the convent where the research begins. Frears doesn´t judge anybody, he lets the journalista make the judgment and Phil the forgiveness.

The Counselor review

Posted : 11 years, 2 months ago on 17 March 2014 01:42 (A review of The Counselor)

A good Ridley Scott in years. Dialogues are a bit abstract and affected but they have to pose a theory on the extrme narcoviolence in Mexico. As Brad Pitt says to Fassbender, all the the killings and decapitations are to keep the cartel's image. They point to you, the one who threats them or deceives them. The pain of Fassbender is a tragedy beyond the thriller.

Saving Mr. Banks review

Posted : 11 years, 2 months ago on 17 March 2014 01:35 (A review of Saving Mr. Banks)

Intelligent dialogues between sardonic but repressed and conservative Travers (Thompson) and funny musical men working with Disney. There´s a ñimit in Disney portrait: this is a Disney film

It Happened Tomorrow review

Posted : 11 years, 2 months ago on 8 March 2014 10:52 (A review of It Happened Tomorrow)

Thw worse Clair. An idiotic fantasy without the social dreaming of his french films. At least has a good pair (Powell and Darnell)and good secondaries.

Ruggles of Red Gap (1935) review

Posted : 11 years, 2 months ago on 8 March 2014 10:49 (A review of Ruggles of Red Gap (1935))

MacCarey takes advantage of the great story (classy Europe vs. democratic, rough America at its climactic clash), of great cast (Laughton is a genious, and Mary Boland is always enjoyable in her only role), and good lines.

War and Peace review

Posted : 11 years, 2 months ago on 8 March 2014 10:44 (A review of War and Peace)

The great, long, unique in literature and screen scene of tha civil man trying to understand war in the middle of the battle, is as wise as epic. ¡Viva Vidor¡ The sense of tragedy and intensity of romantic feelings, of social disdain and regret, everything feels intense. Audrey and Mel are better than the others.

Shield of Straw review

Posted : 11 years, 2 months ago on 8 March 2014 10:38 (A review of Shield of Straw)

Good idea, truculent and extremely schematic scrrenplay. Characters are just alibis for previsible twists. Al leats, Miike has a good and tense hand for action.

Broken Arrow (1952) review

Posted : 11 years, 2 months ago on 8 March 2014 10:18 (A review of Broken Arrow (1952))

Sensitive, intense (Stewart has one of his best scenes of his career when Paget dies), understanding in every approach to indians, and even agile. Great film.
