(OK) Uneasy becuase 2/3 has none or too little dramatic progression, the alternation of colours and b/w has no order; but there's a strong antipathy for classical college autoritarism and conformism that is corrosive...

(OK) MGM musical in its phase of inding lucury and prestige, with classical music characters (the Iturbi family), sopranos (Jane Powell and Ilona Massey), and non romantic staff. Here is the crush of young Jane with Iturbi to find she is a fool...

(OK) So popular and influential that is a must. But really it has a strong idea (the reversal of evolution from men to apes) and a silly plot. The apes are too stupid. The endig is worth the film...

(OK) Aldrich regretted how washed of politicla violenc was this; and really goes to a not convincing happy ending; but he was a bit unfair: there it is an excellent cast being explicit in action, violence (the 'accident' in the elevator)

The long long Hollywood spectacle waste talents of Frank Morgan, Lucille Ball, Ann Sothern and Marsha Hunt in a lousy doctro sketch; Rooney presenst the show and is pure sympathy; Judy Garland and Lena Horne is the best of the film; Eleanor Powell is so and so. Gene Kelly is the best of the four protagonists. Boles and Astor, poor guys; Grayson is ...I can't stand his operatic sinfing is musicals....
