(MU) Too self centered in his quest and the quest of another european before him; and despises the possibility of presenting more information on Joean and bossa nova and Brasil. He even goes to Diamantina, ant the wonderfull town is almost absent...

(MU) Exceptional, the richess of images, tableux vivants or simple visual lines of a poem on religion, love and ancient society...

(OK) Some problems of rytm and repetitions, a violent change of tone (first, the bullets seems artificial, all is lucky and happy; then violence explode and the film doesn't cope with Robby Benson's death...

(OK) Maybe overrated, the plot is so contrived being serious (The death of Ouspenskaya, tha appartion of Louis Hayward loving and not loving, Bellamy miscast), the dancing is poor; but Lucille Ball, Russell Metty photo and some scenes as Maureen and Lucille fight and Maureen shouting at the public....

(OK) Wise is always ok, even going for genres he doesn't domain. Argument has some corny stuff for 1957 (as corny as Jean is believing she is not), exceeding in fluffy almost naif Paul Douglas, therés no comic alibi for the sentimental stuff; but in the other hand, acting is impecable, (Jean and Tony Franciosa are always conivncing), and Julie Wilson sings excellent...

(OK) Episodic, irregular narration, becuase that´s the literary origin, and Donen wanted to make special numbers on Lerner lyrics. Bof Fosse snake ins a little film inside this; each planet is an episode. But there's a core of the film, in the relationship between little prince and the aviator...

(OK) Expressionism in set design, in gothic terror, in madness of the feminine character. Nice variation in 'phantom of the opera' when you hace the phantom asking the man to replace him int thel love of his idealized girl...

(YT) One of the best dialogues, clowned by Carole Lombard. Powell has most punchlines, and is hard on Gail Patrick. Pallette and Brady are excellent supports. Too much in the house and the slums are too Hollywood produced, but that 'laboratory' look donde mess the film...
