(Mu) Too long dialogues, but it adds to a good end. The women reclusion is a state of mind, not just genre and politics, as the 'swadeshi' or nationalist cliam to forbid foreign products is too. There's tension and grey zones in the photography; but takes time too cathc interest. Its the time of the century, long before independence and long after british heritage...

(Yt) Long and irregular, but gets interesting in actions scenes, when japans arrives to the village, when the protagonists have to run, the mining accdiente, the fight; not the mining docummentary part...

(Mu) Ray in the edge of comedy and satire. The introduction of the holy man is a classic scene, with the cult and the trick, in the station, the 'babaji' giving his foot to his loyals, great. Then, the group that tries to unmask him as a political complot...

(OK) Two no connected stories, with some sordid and 'noirish' touches, specially when the girl is 'killed' twice, first almost drowned in a sac, then naked; finally strangled by his boss. Blier is a commisaire against type. Madame Olga, a good tragic character...

(Dvd) Some splendour in scope (a battle, the river, etc) and good secondary characters (Sylva Koscina as a vipher, Francoise Fabian vengeful, the left and right journalists) but lacks de vibrant drama an action you find in the director of Scipione. Good Verne tale.

(Dvd) Kate and Hank are really good and moving, specially when she believes he is dying. The boy catalyses well the drama of father stranged form his only daughter. The landscape, the pond, the sharp dialogues battles with some corny stuff...

(OK) The origin of "Coda" has all the stuff: the sex maniac parents, the moment of silence (just one in a film on deaf people), the muswic teacher; but adds a campaign for being mayor of town that has a loose end...

(Mu) A Rohmer summer is special season of cinema. You not only ander but take a lesson. The proverb ('don't tell too much') is thesis and theme. Pauline is as sensitive as Arielle Dombasle is a fool...

(Dvd) De Mille adds technicolor and finds that he needs special landscapes: Canada rocky background and the red jackets, and heroism almost lost for pleasure. Tjhe idea os responsability, treason (or desertion) and redemption is almost Hawksian...
