Emil und die Detektive review

Posted : 8 years ago on 27 February 2017 03:24 (A review of Emil und die Detektive)

Tender, simple, film in the streets of Berlin. Trascendent adventure without any ambition of being so. Wilder before laughing at everything.

The flavour is in details, in support characters as loser Raymond Walburn flirting with Margaret Hamilton, William 'happy' Demarest, the songs in natural popular voices of people in the way.

Key to the City review

Posted : 8 years ago on 27 February 2017 03:03 (A review of Key to the City)

Modern comedy (a convention of mayors in Frisco, with urban infreastructure being sold in the lobby) with old clisés and storytelling. Good pair.

Hurry Sundown review

Posted : 8 years ago on 27 February 2017 03:01 (A review of Hurry Sundown)

A minor Premminger in despite of cast, consciousness and topic. It lacks Tennesee Willimans or Faulkner's decadence or southern charisma. At least, Old Otto amuses himself in sexy details as Jane simulating a b,ow job with Caine's trumpet.

Hell or High Water (2016) review

Posted : 8 years ago on 27 February 2017 12:59 (A review of Hell or High Water (2016))

Echoes of road movie, new tex mex thriller, fury on the road, a brother redeemed in making his bro rich without aparent guilt, and Jeff Bridges who understand all.

Bleak Street review

Posted : 8 years ago on 20 February 2017 02:27 (A review of Bleak Street)

The Second Mother review

Posted : 8 years ago on 20 February 2017 02:24 (A review of The Second Mother)

Natural, cálida, divertida, se dicen cosas fuertes de manera suave e inocente. La sumisión de Val y la impertinencia de su hija, el paternalismo hipócrita d ela duela de casa, la libido del dueño, todo es creíble.

Laurence Anyways review

Posted : 8 years ago on 19 February 2017 04:59 (A review of Laurence Anyways)

Too long but good angle to see the transsexual and transgender drama: what happens to the straight couple when the man turns to be the woman he wants to be.

Detective Story review

Posted : 8 years ago on 19 February 2017 04:55 (A review of Detective Story)

A little aged: little clisés and stereotyped little characters among the way, the 'real time' narration is not too real. But a great sad ending. One of the best Douglas.

Watership Down review

Posted : 8 years ago on 13 February 2017 02:14 (A review of Watership Down)

Crude tale of rabbits as a running anguished race. Blood and shadows and a pretty sequence of a premonition.
