Lady Macbeth review

Posted : 7 years, 6 months ago on 29 October 2017 02:33 (A review of Lady Macbeth)

Cold, simple, direct, you get into the characters in the close ups, but when they commit a crime and the frame becomes neutral.

Personal Shopper review

Posted : 7 years, 6 months ago on 29 October 2017 02:28 (A review of Personal Shopper)

Assayas can't tell anything without contrived, ultrasofisticated in functions but not in mind, stylized, pretty characters. And somehow, with mediums and an oblicuos murder, everything becomes kind of shallow.

The Wilde Wedding review

Posted : 7 years, 6 months ago on 25 October 2017 04:31 (A review of The Wilde Wedding)

Kind of mijalkovkian, light chejovian stuff in american Close Malkovich fashion, reunitin lovers better than forcing a relationship between a diva and a star writer. The youngsters, the family, makes thier part.

La reina de España (2016) review

Posted : 7 years, 6 months ago on 25 October 2017 04:28 (A review of La reina de España (2016))

Trueba se divierte con tantos estereotipos sobre España. El y Penélope son un par de ellos. La política romantizada con un buen grupo de secundarios que hacen su desembozada parte. Jorge Sanz está muy bien soprotando a Cary Elwes, ah

The Adjuster review

Posted : 7 years, 6 months ago on 25 October 2017 04:03 (A review of The Adjuster)

The adjuster adjusts everybodies stories, as Holm in Sweet Hereafter, and his is demonically adjusted by Bubba. More weird than fasocnating, but has ots moments, its images, its metalinguistic on film clasification (censorship is not our priority says the censor).

The Sweet Hereafter (1997) review

Posted : 7 years, 6 months ago on 25 October 2017 03:49 (A review of The Sweet Hereafter (1997))

Egoyan at its best. Holm excells as an angry mature man, trying to fix everbpody's tragedy but his with his yunki daughter. The Pied Piper morbid sardonic satirical political theme (thanks to the bonus track I read it for the first time), spreads its mystery all over.

The Beguiled review

Posted : 7 years, 7 months ago on 9 October 2017 03:32 (A review of The Beguiled)

Not much to add to my recall of Siegel's if not a provocative aura of reivindication of women against gentleman Farrell. Besides it's war, isn't it? I like the screenplay becuase it has undertones and subtleties, and at the same time, Farrell verbalizes clearly what he thinks we must think.

The Naked and the Dead review

Posted : 7 years, 7 months ago on 8 October 2017 11:31 (A review of The Naked and the Dead)

Harsh, sometimes ugly (the secuence with Cliff and the girls), but this is war and reactionaries above politics, as Raoul could depict them (Massey is excellent, seems a british general...well in a way he is). Why we forgot to praise Aldo bull ray?
