The Lobster review

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 1 January 2016 08:48 (A review of The Lobster)

¿Why success spoiled Giorgos Lanthimos? Artificial, incoherent, confusing, it is not a convincing world as in "Canino"; the stars are wasted. I preferred the unknowns -for non greeks- stars of his first films.

Carol review

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 1 January 2016 08:43 (A review of Carol)

OK Haynes, you make the films with the topics we couldn't find explicitly in the 50s. But here you lack the intensity of "Far from heaven". Its some low key dramatism that I find somehow deceiving

Un rincón cerca del cielo review

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 1 January 2016 08:23 (A review of Un rincón cerca del cielo)

The Corruption of Chris Miller review

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 1 January 2016 08:20 (A review of The Corruption of Chris Miller)

Bardem suele ser provocador pero aquí es meramente efectista. El semental Stokes confundido con serial killer por Seberg y Marisol (que está linda de veras); es a la vez una confusión de giallo con terror erótico.

Lydia review

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 25 December 2015 04:33 (A review of Lydia)

In spite of terrible make up and acting of the entire cast when aged in the present; Duvivier is ok using Hollywood set design and glossy movments for his 'bal' scenes. Oberon ok, but Cotten better. May Oliver has the best part and dialogues.

Once a Thief (1965) review

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 21 December 2015 04:31 (A review of Once a Thief (1965))

Nice cast, strong relation between excelllent Heflin and Delon, Margret is really ok (lost minded in the asphalt waiting for a phone call), Palance overacting as always.

Poppies Are Also Flowers review

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 21 December 2015 04:25 (A review of Poppies Are Also Flowers)

Besides the joyous play of identifying stars; poor spy plot with enough killings to justify the progressive reduction of the cast. Rita's character is pathetic as I suppose she was then.

The Angel Wore Red (1960) review

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 21 December 2015 04:13 (A review of The Angel Wore Red (1960))

Heavy and solemn stuff civil war is in filosophical cinic Cotten's voice in off; but romance between Gardner and Bograde has some 'fou' quality.

Taras Bulba review

Posted : 9 years, 5 months ago on 15 December 2015 10:43 (A review of Taras Bulba)

Trepidant, never loosens action, with romance fou and 'bromance' (passionate touches between father and sons Bulba), drinking as a cossack mood, superficial but ¡what a rithm!

Ashanti review

Lousy all star movie. Great Holden (he has a nice death in the helicopter), tongue in cheek Harrison, Ustinov having fun
