Para verla luego de "The gathering storm",a pesar del camnio de elenco. Gleeson pierde algo del humor de Finney como Churchill, pero tiene grandes líneas salpicadas, con su familia, su maltratado mayordomo y los otrs grandes caracteres (salvo el rey ante el que se porta ceremonioso).

La vi doblada al español, pero aún así se percibe cierta dificultad de Finney en ser natural con tanto 'sobrepeso' de maquillaje. Redgrave, en cambio, está mas natural como Mrs. Churchill despertando las iras y celos de su gran hombre, mientras la tormenta parece pasar a segundo lugar.

Not as good as the poster but doesn´t betray my faith in Rita. It exploits´some stereotypes established in Gilda and other warner 'noir in the tropics', but nice bunch of charcters in Alexander Socrby's mansion (what a surprise, Valerie Bettis).

Very intentioned. The klan isn't just a racist plague (they dont kill negroes, just a journalist) but an integral evil against democracy. Rogers convinves us of her silence in first degree. Cochran is ok as a sexy brute.

Entiendo que Cannes premiara a EScalante como mejor director y se desentendiera de la película: la frialdad de su exposición, el desconcierto de su visión sobre México, están en la mecanicidad de los actores (es interesante oír al chico, en el making off del DVD, que sí es actor profesional, explicar su frustración por no saber que piensa su personaje)no impiden que Escalante narre visualmente con maestría y consiga momentos tan tiernos y bizarros como el soldado Beto haciendo una prueba de fuerza cargando a su chica. Pero sí siento que Escalante se mepina sobre la aprente frialdad y desconcierto: su relato muestra la incapacidad de lidiar con la violencia de gentes qu eno tend´rian porque hacerlo y sin mebargo lo hacen con gran fortaleza. La fortaleza de Heli sí es un statement esperanzado sobre México.

They can touch some forbidden things for us, in the 70s. THa paedofilia of Noiret, and the insinuatiing girl (shw shows her breasts) to Sordi,are awesome. I thinks it was tolerated because was just the exposition of crime and subsequent plot of chasing wrong (and idiot) man Sordi.

Too serious, but Le Roy ant the script communicates the strenous and repetitive experiments, !so repetitive that one even understands them!. Grason and Pidgeon are ok.
