One Touch of Venus review

Posted : 11 years, 5 months ago on 13 December 2013 09:21 (A review of One Touch of Venus)

It lacks the charm and stilized naiveté of fantasy comedies. Ava is alluring but not sexy enough. She look better with gowns than with the venus's robe. Walker is to childish.

Plymouth Adventure review

Posted : 11 years, 5 months ago on 13 December 2013 09:18 (A review of Plymouth Adventure)

Tracy eats the cast and the film, and he has great and furious dialogue. Weak Gene, in spite of good lines in reply to Tracy's desire. Brown is ok in the intimate scenes and in the epic.

Indian Summer review

Posted : 11 years, 5 months ago on 11 December 2013 01:44 (A review of Indian Summer)

Affected Zurlini, Delon is a wild, fresh, but nervous and romantic and generous character going around with presumably deadly Petrova. Zurlini coud be dense and intellectual as Antonioni, while being somehow vulgar. Gianini and Randone are the best.

Ministry of Fear review

Posted : 11 years, 5 months ago on 8 December 2013 12:40 (A review of Ministry of Fear )

Minor Lang because its whimsical plot, but with nice touches, when good Milland confronts its justified paranoia. The nightmarish plot turning patriotic war effort is predcitable but can´t expect anything else for a 1944 film.

The Four Feathers review

Great epic sense, alternated with sweet but blood England tradition. Richardon is great in every scene, is dramatic even remaining quiet.

The Prowler (1951) review

Posted : 11 years, 5 months ago on 8 December 2013 12:29 (A review of The Prowler (1951))

Rare for Hollywood standards. Losey in crash course with censorship. It´s imposible to wash the pasional adulterous, sick romance. Evelyn Keyes, ¡an underrated actress¡,barefeet says all about sex. The noirish tones are kinf of washed, maybe because of plain phto and supporting cast, and music. The end in ghost town Calico in hard to believe, but tolerable.

The Blue Max review

Posted : 11 years, 5 months ago on 8 December 2013 12:22 (A review of The Blue Max)

A surprise. The best of Guillermin. Subtle plot of ambitious and corruption transversal to high and low classes. Germany is doomed in its pretty heroes. Great aerial photography. Perhaps Jeremy Kemp is the only gentleman. Good ending supported with Mason acting. Úrsula and Peppard are ok, because they underact

La Vérité review

Posted : 11 years, 5 months ago on 8 December 2013 12:17 (A review of La Vérité)

A predictable drama court, even in its ambiguity. BB is guilty but proves the jury is wrong when distrust her suicidal attempts. Clouzot dissapears in the conventional sexy flahsbacks plot. BB dancing nude under the sheets, for Sammy Frey, is the highlight.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1956) review

Posted : 11 years, 5 months ago on 8 December 2013 12:06 (A review of The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1956))

A color blockbuster for french standards, importing Gina from the south and Quinn from Hollywood, but honoring Hugo in dialogues and massive scenes. Cuny is excellent as Frollo, murmuring his lascive repression. Gina is pure lust, Quinn is ok.
