Hustle review

Posted : 1 year, 10 months ago on 8 April 2023 02:59 (A review of Hustle)

(OK) Richesse in undertones and semitones, both romantic and cinic about Deneuve's being a whore and Reynols being a hard cop. Good ending, al delicate as moving

Pepe review

Posted : 1 year, 10 months ago on 8 April 2023 02:12 (A review of Pepe)

(OK) Never so many stars wasted (maybe in "The puppy is also a flower"), but here they have entire scenes as Robinson, Garson, Leigh and Curtis, Novay, Sinatra and Martin, Lemmon in woman's disguise, etc. But Pepe is treates with such paternalism and clisés that Cantinflas seems to be a little ashamed.

Indecent Desires review

Posted : 1 year, 10 months ago on 8 April 2023 02:06 (A review of Indecent Desires)

(MU) The naiveté of not so early nudies, in this case with a terror/fantastic touch of a puppet being caressed or hit and that, as arbitrary as possible, being reproducen in the main character. The freak is interesting...

Teatro de guerra review

Posted : 1 year, 10 months ago on 8 April 2023 02:03 (A review of Teatro de guerra)

(MU) Buen documental con caracteres escogidos para que testimonien, se oponga, se hagan cómplices y creen escenas grupales como la de la piscina.

The Longest Yard review

Posted : 1 year, 10 months ago on 8 April 2023 02:01 (A review of The Longest Yard)

(OK) A harsh, hard, macho Aldrich adding rugby to prison unjustice. Dirty Dozen meets Cool Hand Luke. Action piece with strong characters, strong supports and nothing else. Bernadette Peters is funny

Mysterious Object at Noon review

Posted : 1 year, 10 months ago on 8 April 2023 01:54 (A review of Mysterious Object at Noon)

(MU) Api's debut is as rare object as himself, undefined register (begins as a documentary woth interviews, then characters tell and perfom an improivsed story) and undefined reality/fiction; this in consistent with all his work

Soul Kitchen review

Posted : 1 year, 10 months ago on 8 April 2023 01:51 (A review of Soul Kitchen)

(MU) Akin's non pretentious effectiveness, versatile in themes but always with his transversal islamic/mulicultural informal explossive behaviour, with romantic touches and here, a choral protagonism brought by gastronomy...simple and corny

The Perfect Furlough review

Posted : 1 year, 10 months ago on 2 April 2023 12:17 (A review of The Perfect Furlough)

(OK) Good point of departure, Leigh's idea of a ideal furlough as a prize for isolates soldiers; but the bombshell Linda Cristal distracts the idea (it is supposed that the other men are well informed of what's passing and ypu don'd see them till the end) ; it goes better when romance between Curtis and Leigh prevails, vene woth clisés of french and love...

American Psycho review

Posted : 1 year, 10 months ago on 2 April 2023 12:12 (A review of American Psycho)

(MU) Sick and neat, a surprise revisiting this underrated film. The obsessions of class (the quality of business cards is amazing, the restairant reservations) are as sick as the fantasies (you don't know they are) of psycho killing...
