Love the dialogues, even in the apparent manicheism. The rich bad ones are a bit dumb, but with interesting shades of grey; good ones have many shades, too, and Hunt as que wrong pacifist is excellent...

Not sure if its subtlety or set design pretty Florida, that softens too much this melodrama, of a boy turned monster after being pushed by his competitive father.

Nasty realis, filthy details and in a strange way, in an unexpected moment, a tear behind all the dirt. The 'mise a scene' of the bad boy, the drunken simpleton and the baby with a knife, is great.

Good intentions, too long defense and a very vague cause that looosens protagonism of the affected. Haynes just follows the plot, uninspired...

Melodrama with the dilemma and abuses of a state behind. But the guilt is not explored in autorithies but in a woman and a child that accodentally (or because of thier work) causes the death and abortion of the only children of a family...
