Posted : 5 years, 3 months ago on 23 November 2019 06:01 (A review of Malaya)

The powerfull star cast (Stewarts makes Tracy look more serious than he probably wanted to be), Valentina lacks glamour some other star could provide, Greenstreet is the best...

The Burglars review

Posted : 5 years, 3 months ago on 23 November 2019 05:56 (A review of The Burglars)

For those who have a weakness for Verneuil: here he takes long shots to just depict bruglar technified stuff, a gratuitous car chase in Athens, a wasted love story between Belmondo and Calfan...

The Devil Came at Night review

Posted : 5 years, 3 months ago on 23 November 2019 05:50 (A review of The Devil Came at Night)

German 50s noir, crimes in the middle of war as the biggest crime. Siodmak tries this good theme/idea here, better if the serial killer is an arian madman, Mario Adorf, that provides al the prooofs (brigth sequence)...

Morituri review

Posted : 5 years, 3 months ago on 23 November 2019 05:47 (A review of Morituri)

Huis clos in big ships, good macho chasta, always work. Brando/Brynner nos as enemies but too different actors of war, Martin benrath is the real antagonist, interesting actor but lacks brightness to oppose Brando. The Janet Margolin subplot is wasted...

Bitter Victory review

Posted : 5 years, 3 months ago on 23 November 2019 05:42 (A review of Bitter Victory)

Great, abstraction and concretion on the sand. I love the training mannequins as an intro to the adventure in the other world, fatalist and stupid; everuthing goes as sand on the hand. There's even a madman, but the madness of war and machism (that's Jurgens thing, ¿isn't it?) exceeds him...

Rocketman review

Posted : 5 years, 3 months ago on 17 November 2019 04:26 (A review of Rocketman)

Disperse, a musical that breaks and loses the essential of most songs and moments (don't like Fletcher) and images; but somewhat descends and sticks to earth. when Elton dressed as Rocketman, goes to therapy.

Domino review

Posted : 5 years, 3 months ago on 17 November 2019 03:56 (A review of Domino)

De Palma, old artisan, nothing of his better times here, not even a kinf of Bernard Herrman soundtrack in the long ending. More drama (buddy of dying cop befriends his wife and lover) than antiterrorist stuff. Nice Almeria setting.

The Professor review

Posted : 5 years, 3 months ago on 17 November 2019 03:53 (A review of The Professor)

A bit pompous, idiot witty plot of a professor of literature no telling his wife and daughter he is dying with cancer, the gay thing is played in ridiculous way, mmmh. Friend Danny Huston saves half the film

Zoo (2018) review

Posted : 5 years, 3 months ago on 17 November 2019 03:50 (A review of Zoo (2018))

Posted : 5 years, 3 months ago on 17 November 2019 03:45 (A review of El cuento de las comadrejas)

Diálogos rimbombantes, 'bajando líneas' como oí decir a Aristaraín alguna vez, pero los actores y motivos van con ellos. Borges es diva funcional, se excede menos que sus acompañantes.
