The Handmaiden review

Posted : 7 years, 11 months ago on 12 June 2017 03:07 (A review of The Handmaiden)

Extreme formalism but has some moemntos and images and parts that trascend it. The sexy pervertion of the characters, leading to the happy somber mutilation, while the lesbian girls are happy, is ok.

Friendly Persuasion review

Posted : 7 years, 11 months ago on 12 June 2017 03:05 (A review of Friendly Persuasion)

Wyler knows what to do with any material, even one as antipersuasive as this one. Maybe the material is too washed up (they don'r commit crimes ans are too moderated in the end), buy doesn't lack subtlety and some humour in the Marjorie Main and her tomboy daughters part. Cooper is miscasted against McGuire.

Lucrèce Borgia review

Posted : 7 years, 11 months ago on 12 June 2017 03:00 (A review of Lucrèce Borgia)

Christian-Jaque historiacal adventure films must be revisited. Lucrecia's romanticism mut be found, and the film finds it in some parts, behind the despotic intriguing sxy killing court she is part of. Sexual overtones and fantastic parts (la chasse a l'homme of Serato is excellent, the incestuous attraction of Cesare to his sister) are more than ok.

The Unknown Girl review

Posted : 7 years, 11 months ago on 12 June 2017 02:56 (A review of The Unknown Girl)

Dardenne's naturalism with a search that speeds up the narration and has a thriller aspect. Secondary characters are well depicted and you don't loose their sense of guilt and frustration.

La academia de las musas review

Posted : 7 years, 11 months ago on 4 June 2017 09:52 (A review of La academia de las musas)

Me cuesta soportar a Guerin cuando da vueltas sobre lo mismo, un académico pretencioso creyendo que tiene todo resuelto sobre temas irresolubles, y mujeres que supuestamente lo inspiran y desesperan.

It's Only the End of the World review

Posted : 7 years, 11 months ago on 4 June 2017 09:45 (A review of It's Only the End of the World)

Huis clos to a explosive talky family, too dependning on Vicncent Cassell explosions, too fatalist oriented, not findifing a momento to a espontaneous, frank, moving dialogue or gesture.

Michael Moore in TrumpLand review

Posted : 7 years, 11 months ago on 4 June 2017 09:42 (A review of Michael Moore in TrumpLand)

The humour of our time. Moore is a contemporary philosopher making a stand up instead of a conference, and always adding and irony, a new comment, a new reason.

Política, manual de instrucciones review

Posted : 7 years, 11 months ago on 4 June 2017 09:41 (A review of Política, manual de instrucciones)

Anomalisa (2015) review

Posted : 7 years, 11 months ago on 4 June 2017 09:39 (A review of Anomalisa (2015))

Adult, tender, simple, straight to the idea, pragmatic (just having all women talking lke men and the one talking womanly, is enough) puppet fantastic realistic stuff.

The Prize review

Posted : 7 years, 11 months ago on 4 June 2017 09:36 (A review of The Prize)

Light Nobel winner in a jamesbondish intrigue; pretties blonde Sommer and brunette Diane Baker, and two faced EG Robinson. Robson is effective, not more.
