Standing Tall review

Posted : 8 years, 11 months ago on 8 March 2016 09:59 (A review of Standing Tall )

Is almost a genre in french films: the world has to stop to deal with the needs and bad moods of an anguished boy. Deneuve is ok because is 'froid' to all that, but comprehends in the end.

Life review

Posted : 8 years, 12 months ago on 2 March 2016 02:43 (A review of Life)

Loses time in name dropping and rude casting with lookalikes of Elia Kazan, Pier Angeli, Julie Harris, etc. The esential, wich is Pattinson accompanying Jimmy Dean in a singular rediscovery of its roots trip, lacks of intensity.

The Big Short review

Posted : 8 years, 12 months ago on 2 March 2016 02:38 (A review of The Big Short)

Too playful and ludicrous in moments where you could´ve asked for more explanations. But characters fight against its stereotypical cinicism, and have good lines for it. Baum (my favorite) says, after getting the whole picture of the cdos bubble in Las Vegas: "I'm gonna look for moral redemption in the roulette".

Suffragette review

Posted : 9 years ago on 27 February 2016 12:06 (A review of Suffragette)

All women character, but radical violent anarchist desperate feeling is washed by the meniangful statement of Maud/Carey Mulligan. I prefer the the secondary characters, as the suicidal Emily and Violet.

Hommage and spoof too clichés since the title sequence with the casitng of 'comic relief', 'moody teenager' ando so on. The vengeance motif is never loosen.

A War (2015) review

Posted : 9 years ago on 22 February 2016 04:28 (A review of A War (2015))

Too long exposition to reach to the trial. The danish sequences are poor compared with what follows. Danish wants to strip its nordisk guilt; its obvious.

Bridge of Spies review

Posted : 9 years ago on 22 February 2016 04:20 (A review of Bridge of Spies)

Good characters:Tom 'standing man' Hanks, and spy Rylance are those of these simple men involved in history. Spielberg and Coen's are good on that.

Up to His Ears review

Posted : 9 years ago on 22 February 2016 03:58 (A review of Up to His Ears)

Espectacular 'cascades', stunts and locations; pure rythm and 'cocasseries aventuriers'. But a kind of heartless feeling, till Jean Paul makes click with Ursula.

Creed review

Posted : 9 years ago on 22 February 2016 03:55 (A review of Creed)

A box melodrama as many we've seen, but related to a saga in a second generation actulaization. Philadelfia is present, Balboa also; so just enjoy nostalgia.

The Martian review

Posted : 9 years ago on 22 February 2016 03:51 (A review of The Martian)

Good idea, the accidental colonization of mars by one guy, very realistic. Well narrated by the device of the various cameras Matt Damon talks with; but too long and tedious explaining the rescue.
