China review

Posted : 8 years ago on 3 May 2017 02:34 (A review of China)

I read a wrong reference pointing this film as antecedent to 'Secret onf the incas/Indiana Jones' kind of hero. Instead is adventure with pro belic war allied China theme, and overreaction to rape of girls.

The Devil and Daniel Webster review

Posted : 8 years ago on 3 May 2017 02:30 (A review of The Devil and Daniel Webster)

Great guy Dieterle. One of the most bizarre Hollywood films (it begins with a little pig that breaks his foot), wonderfully casted, Ed Arnold is brilliant talking and sleeping, Simone Simon is cat people years before.

The Founder review

I like it. there's an uneasyness about this prototype of king of merchants that seals a good idea and make it great against their real founders.

The Salesman review

Posted : 8 years ago on 3 May 2017 02:24 (A review of The Salesman)

Farhadi depicting 2 or 3 levels of his underdeveloped overrated movie land. Mmmmm. Having in mind that they are actors, that they act as idiots over the accident (don't go to the police, try to make justice with their own hands), I think an oscar was too much.

Tanna review

Ambitious, extreme being fluent and harmonious, not arguing about fiction and documentary, just making the tribe like what they are narrating.

Caine is ok in this light thriller on ominous subject (nazi lagacy) in wich Frankenheimer is really down.

The Scandalous Adventures of Buraikan (1970) review

Posted : 8 years ago on 17 April 2017 03:19 (A review of The Scandalous Adventures of Buraikan (1970))

Good stories but the compete against each other fot attention. I prefer the hideous mother killed by his son, ant the dual choral (because there are many storiies and characters and because thereยดs a group of marginals trying to have a parade).

The Seven Cervi Brothers review

Posted : 8 years ago on 17 April 2017 03:13 (A review of The Seven Cervi Brothers)

Impossible not to make somethinf out of this story. Don't like the narration, recalled from a present wich is not a special one. Volonte is ok, the parents don't act like tne 'contadini' they are.

Plucking the Daisy review

Posted : 8 years ago on 17 April 2017 03:10 (A review of Plucking the Daisy )

Well paced comedy, so light even in its provocative striptease background. But more determinant is the small town (Vichy) background, and the Gelin's stereotypical seductive guy.

Chronicle of the Years of Embers review

Posted : 8 years ago on 17 April 2017 03:06 (A review of Chronicle of the Years of Embers)

Long, dry, too selfconscious and talky in Milloud character always making speeches on the cemetery, characters bound for sacrifice and heroism; but impressive production for a poor cinema standard,
