Meet John Doe review

Posted : 10 years, 12 months ago on 19 May 2013 08:07 (A review of Meet John Doe)

When Capra became an almost predictable mark. Too 'speechy', but Stanwyck and Arnold are always convincing. Cooper is too hansome for the character but has the right simplicity. A like tha part when little towners talks to Cooper, Satnwyck and Arnold.

Pioneering a kind of clowning with modern musical stardom. Everyone plays as groupie of down to earth Beatles

The Young Lions review

Posted : 11 years ago on 12 May 2013 10:02 (A review of The Young Lions )

Great cast, 3 so different actors that Brando with his phony german accent, is forgetabel between stranged Monty and cinic Dean Martin. The script has its literary afflictions (I couldn't stand dialogues by Liliana Montevecchi and Barbara Rush is insufferable for Martin).

Los tres huastecos review

Posted : 11 years ago on 12 May 2013 09:54 (A review of Los tres huastecos)

As naif as it gets. Not 2, but 3 Pedros. I couldn't stand the captain and the religious, if there wasn't the amboguos and macho and stubborn Lorenzo, that revels against everuthing. So this a 2/3 stupid film, saved by the 1/3 Ridrรญguez-Infante

El siete machos review

Posted : 11 years ago on 5 May 2013 09:31 (A review of El siete machos)

Al almost all of Cantinflas's films directed by Delgado, his acting and verbal routines are so far form the plot... The Alcorizas that wrote this are so aware of this, that they don't care...

Magic Mike review

Posted : 11 years ago on 5 May 2013 09:27 (A review of Magic Mike)

There's something, maybe in the naturalist dialogues, not in the strippers scene, and in the understated Mike's desire of paternity, that enlivens this film

Pursued review

Posted : 11 years ago on 5 May 2013 09:22 (A review of Pursued)

Im not sure if Walsh was son conscious of the 'psycho western' he was managing, as everybody (including him) was after this. I feel more deadly romaticism, with incestous shadows, passionate scenes between Mitchum and surprising Wright, and great support form Anderson and Jagger.

Never So Few review

Posted : 11 years ago on 5 May 2013 09:17 (A review of Never So Few)

Banalization and frivolization of a war drama, Lollo is ua mere ornament. In spite of this, Sturges tries to put some dignity in the war scenes with Sinatra, Johnson, McQueen and Bronson. Wasted Henreid and Donlevy

Trapeze review

Posted : 11 years ago on 5 May 2013 09:14 (A review of Trapeze)

Swinging people, swinging affaires, swinging fames, this Reed deserves more prestige than its lurid traingle Lancaster Lollo and Curtis.

The Battle of the River Plate review

Posted : 11 years ago on 27 April 2013 11:12 (A review of The Battle of the River Plate)

Rare film, in a way is a rejection of war: diplomacy means the same than actions and heroics, people watches the spectacle as monkies from the Montevideo docks, there are no heroes and badmen, and british officers are always pomp ans circusntance. There is certain disbelief that impregnates the direction
